MegaGlest is an open source 3D-real-time strategy game, where you control the armies of one of six different factions: Tech, Magic, Egyptians, Indians, Norsemen Persian or Romans (Beta). The game is setup in one of 14 naturally looking settings, which -like the unit models- are crafted with great appreciation for detail. MegaGlest is heavily based on the widely known Glest.

By now we’re at 3.9.0 – still free, still fun, but now with even more features and very stable. Check it out: http://megaglest.org

Romans are now no longer beta, making it seven factions (not six) and, as of v3.5.0, MegaGlest comes with 16 (not 14) tilesets. Additional game mods (full modifications, techtrees, maps and tilesets) are now available for download from within the game.

It might also be worth to point out that the original Glest game is no longer being developed since early 2008 and that there is a growing trend to consider MegaGlest its continuation.

I like Glest, though I’d never played MegaGlest until today. Much nicer graphics than Glest but the same great gameplay, I like it.
